Hideo Kojima has shared new insight into the Death Stranding movie, while director Michael Sarnoski has revealed a key detail about it as well.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kojima said he wanted to "try a different path" with the adaptation of Death Stranding for film. That path, he said, is to make a "two-hour art movie" as opposed to re-telling the story of the games.

Kojima admitted this plan might not work.

"I don't know if this will be successful, but that's the goal," he said.

The Death Stranding movie is in the works at A24, which just reached an AI-training deal with Google, and is also behind the Elden Ring film from director Alex Garland.

Sarnoski, who earned acclaim for directing the movie Pig starring Nicolas Cage and later made A Quiet Place: Day One, told The Hollywood Reporter that Death Stranding is his next project.
