🎮 Subnautica 2 explodes with massive concurrent player number and a million copies sold with early access launch

Five million wishlists is a lot, so Subnautica 2 had some big expectations going into its early access launch today. Those expectations have been well met.

Within two hours of launching on Steam, Subnautica 2 reached over 467,000 players. This number is fluid (like water, haha) and likely to change over the coming days, especially as more players buy the game and log in for the weekend, so it will likely get even bigger.

But just an hour into launch, Unknown Worlds revealed that the game had already sold one million copies, which is a monumental achievement. That means around one in five players who wishlisted the game bought it already, and this is just day one. Wowza!

Subnautica 2 devs called this early access launch the "biggest" in the franchise with "the most amount of content" across the series, with over 10 biomes to explore and around 14-20 hours of gameplay. But as an early access game, this is also just the beginning.
